Facebook is getting serious about media by bringing in one of the co-founders of CollegeHumor.

Ricky Van Veen will join Facebook as "head of global creative strategy," a position that will look to persuade media organizations and other notable users to make more things to put on Facebook.

"This essentially means that I’ll be working with all types of creators and organizations to figure out how best to use the biggest network in the world to better connect people with engaging and meaningful content," Van Veen wrote in a Facebook post about the move.

Recode first reported the move.

Van Veen is best known as one of the founders of CollegeHumor, the website he began with Josh Abramson back in 1999. Yes, he had a successful website before even Mark Zuckerberg.

They eventually sold control of the company in 2006 to IAC, where Van Veen has been working on a variety of other media efforts. Zuckerberg, of course, would found Facebook five years later and grow the company into the tech juggernaut it is today.
