Even when you think it's failed miserably, Facebook always has a way to win.

When the gargantuan social network launched Facebook Stories — essentially the same feature as Instagram Stories, which is essentially the same feature as Snapchat Stories — everyone said "meh."

But those empty bubbles at the top of your mobile feed might suddenly get a lot busier. The company is now officially enabling cross-posting of Stories from Instagram to Facebook.

We knew the feature was in the works in early September, but now TechCrunch says it's official and just a matter of rolling it out to all users.

"We’re always working to make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you," a Facebook spokesperson told the outlet.

It's simple to use: When you create a new story on Instagram, you'll see a new option to share it as a Facebook Story. Boom: Your story now gets to annoy slightly amuse users on two huge social platforms.

This is pretty big, even for Facebook, since Instagram Stories had 250 million daily active users as of June 2017. If some of that spills onto Facebook, well, we're not sure how much bigger Facebook can get, as it already pretty much controls all your online time on mobile. But it will be a definite step up from almost no one using Stories on Facebook.

Of course, whether this motivates users to actually create more native Facebook stories remains to be seen.
