Fantastic Beasts has found its young Dumbledore.

Warner Bros. officially announced today that Jude Law has been cast as Albus Dumbledore for the sequel, opposite Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald.

Dumbledore was previously played by Richard Harris and then Michael Gambon in the Harry Potter movies.

However, Fantastic Beasts is set roughly 70 years earlier than the Harry Potter saga was, when the Hogwarts headmaster was a much younger man.

David Yates will return to direct the next Fantastic Beasts movie, after helming the last Fantastic Beasts movie and the last four Harry Potter movies. J.K. Rowling wrote the screenplay.

Fantastic Beasts 2 (or whatever it winds up being called) is out November 16, 2018. It'll be the second in a planned five-film series from Warner Bros.
