The NPR Twitter account decided to pay a Father's Day homage to all the dads around the world by inviting people to share their "best" and "funniest" dad jokes in a thread. Some of them are real groaners, but in true dad joke fashion, it's hard not to laugh at some of them.

NPR got the ball rolling with some examples of its own.

And others chimed in with their own jokes, either remembered from their own dads or from being dads themselves.

Some were the kind of jokes that dear Dad couldn't resist when the situation arose.

Others relied on tried-and-true parent humor.

There were some classics thrown in as well.

And so, so many puns.

And of course, no dad joke recitation would be complete without the ultimate, the holy grail, the joke all dads wait their entire lives to be able to tell...

Happy Father's Day, everyone!
