Fifth Harmony are denying claims that one of their security guards was abusive to fans after video surfaced on social media of a fan being elbowed when they were following the girl group through an airport.

In a statement on Monday, 5H not only gave more background about what they say happened -- "not one security guard inappropriately touched or harmed anyone," they wrote -- but also stressed the importance of security in light of Christina Grimmie's death. Grimmie was fatally shot when she was signing autographs after a show.

“We have been really busy working and making sure that you guys have as amazing of an experience with us as possible, but we feel like sometimes you guys forget that there are only five of us versus hundreds of you,” they wrote on Twitter. “Our security team is set up and in place to protect us and our privacy when people go beyond normal boundaries.”

Their statement comes a couple months after Justin Bieber canceled meet and greets with fans on his Purpose World Tour. "Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression," he explained at the time.

At VidCon this year, organizers doubled down on security, putting at least three security guards at each panel. Fans were not allowed to approach panelists after panels.

"We will continue to support our security team in making sure that they respect the boundaries so many people seem to think they're entitled to disrespect," 5H wrote. "They're only trying to keep us safe."
