Final Fantasy XV is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 30. Probably. Let us explain.
Publisher Square Enix is hosting a big event on Wednesday evening during which new details will be shared on the long-awaited next chapter in the Final Fantasy series. The expectation has been that we'd get a release date.
That's apparently accurate, based on a YouTube video that GameSpot accidentally pulled the trigger on too early. The video is set to private now, but Game Informer grabbed a few screens before that happened.
One screen confirms the release date. Another reveals that a new demo will be released before, during or after the event -- the caption simply reads "A new demo featuring young Noctis will be available today."
There's probably more news to come from Square at the event as well, but this is a big one that fans have been waiting for.
As usual for this kind of news, remember that the source is a leaked video that may not be accurate. But it's not unusual for media outlets to receive pre-briefs on upcoming news, and the video was posted to GameSpot's official YouTube channel.
