Alaska Airlines gives everyone onboard $100 after drunk passenger causes flight diversion

Not too shabby for an hour and 45 minute delay.

Flight diversions are never fun, and they're even worse when the cause was preventable. Case in point: An Alaska Airlines flight on Monday was diverted when a drunk passenger got a bit too rowdy.

Alaska Airlines Flight 800 from Sacramento to Seattle landed in Portland so an intoxicated passenger could be removed.

Crew had asked the passenger in row 9 to calm down, but that further agitated him. The pilot diverted to Portland where police met the plane, according to local station KING5.

But the other passengers, including one who tweeted about the incident, weren't completely out of luck. Alaska offered a $100 credit to a future (hopefully drunk-passenger free) flight.

The flight arrived in Seattle about an hour and 45 minutes late.

This is the second drunk passenger incident in about a month on Alaska, according to View From the Wing.

"We like to communicate directly and promptly with our customers on any issues that occur as their flight experience with Alaska is very important to us," a spokesperson for Alaska Airlines told Mashable, "and know how we handle an issue will be taken into account the next time a person is deciding what airline to fly."
