Small plane crashes into ocean 40 feet from Miami beach

The two people on board were rescued.

A small plane crashed into the water off a beach in Miami on Tuesday.

Two people were on board the Piper PA-28 Cherokee plane but no one was injured, according to the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department. The Coast Guard as well as Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were on the scene, according to WPLG Local 10.


Haulover Beach, where the crash happened, is an urban park in Miami on a shoal between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic.

The reason for the crash was under investigation. The FAA will investigate and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the probable cause.
