Food. It is the literal fuel that keeps us alive, along with a splash of water here and there and about one million cups of coffee.

Australians love their food, they love their country, and sometimes the universe decides to gift them a delicious marriage of the two.

Conflicting as it is to be presented with delectable delights in the exact shape of a democratic island, it would take a person far stronger than the author to turn down food in any circumstance.

During moments of madness, some citizens consciously choose to marry cuisine and their continental home.

These nationalistic monsters can usually be found on Pinterest espousing the benefits of everything from a specially-constructed pizza to commonwealth-themed pavlova.

And some bonus natural splendour

Our island home also likes to remind us just where we are from time-to -time. Even this cave in South Australia's Sleaford Bay indulges in a little continental inception.
