Oooh. Aaah. Woaah. Here's a bunch of dazzling fireworks displays for the Fourth of July.

Folks across America have toasted Independence Day beneath jaw-dropping fireworks displays, from New York City to Washington D.C., Nashville to Los Angeles and everywhere in between.

Fitting finales to the public holiday brought brightly coloured lights to the skies on Thursday, marking the 4th of July and the nation's 242nd year of independence.

Even if you missed out on a barrage of light bursts this year, photographers across the U.S. brought their top exposure game to capture the perfect snap. Live vicariously.
