Fox News is the latest network to jump into the streaming service market because 24 hours of cable news apparently just isn't enough for its legions of "superfans."

The network announced this week plans for the standalone subscription-only, streaming service, called Fox Nation.

The company didn't reveal a price for the service or programming details, though it sounds as if the service will have a similar model ad ESPN's streaming service. Fox Nation will be an extension of its existing Fox News programming rather than a place to watch, say, a repeat of the day's Fox and Friends.

Instead, the service will feature new shows you won't be able to find on the network. These shows will be primarily hosted by new faces, though hosts like Sean Hannity will make regular appearances as well, according to The New York Times.

In addition, a Fox Nation subscription will buy you "access to exclusive events," and access to Fox News' archives.

Though the company says its especially well-positioned due to its insatiable "superfans," the move will put Fox up against what's becoming a very crowded market for streaming TV channels. And, as the New York Times points out, other conservative news-focused ventures from Fox News alums Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly haven't had much luck turning their former fans into streaming eyeballs.

Still, the backing and resources of Fox News could make all the difference since they can market directly to all those "superfans."

Fox Nation will launch in the fourth quarter of 2018.
