Frank Ocean has a brand new solo track and – sorry, we just need a minute
Looks like we don't have to wait four years for new tracks from Frank Ocean.
The artist debuted a new solo song "Chanel" on his Beats 1 radio show Blonded Friday night. It's his first solo track since Endless and Blonde, and it's delightful and groundbreaking for all kinds of reasons.
In the song, Ocean, who is bisexual, openly discusses his love for another man as well as his own masculinity.
"My guy pretty like a girl /And he got fight stories to tell / I see both sides like Chanel / See on both sides like Chanel," Ocean says.
Members of the queer community made no attempt to disguise their delight on Twitter.
As did people who just really, really loved the song.
Ocean premiered two versions of the track on his new radio show for Apple Music, signaling his independence from Def Jam. The brand has something of a monopoly on big-name artists like Ocean at the moment.
If we have to wait for this kind of excellence again, so be it. We'll just play this on repeat for years.
