Could Bran Stark stir up some trouble with the Night King's ice dragon?

White walkers, dragons, and wargs

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 7, episode 6, titled "Beyond the Wall."

Okay, so when we're not freaking out over how fast ravens can fly from beyond the wall to Dragonstone or where the White Walkers' chains came from, we're freaking about the ZOMBIE ICE DRAGON.

Yes, it seems Viserion is now also a White Walker (White Flyer?) after being skewered by the Night King's ice javelin and that leads us to a lot of questions. Like will he breathe ice instead of fire? Will either of his fellow dragons recognize him? How badass will the Night King look riding an ICE DRAGON?

But now Ani Bundel over at Elite Daily has proposed yet another question that will drive us crazy until it either gets proven... or doesn't: Can Bran warg into Viserion?

It's not a new theory, but it's gained traction thanks to the events of "Beyond the Wall."

It starts with another popular theory relating to the prophecy of three dragon riders, something derived from one of Dany's vision in the House of the Undying in the book series; she sees her brother Rhaegar say, "the dragon has three heads."

Fans have translated that prophecy to the show, suggesting a variety of combinations of the three riders. After the events of "Beyond the Wall," one combination that makes sense is Daenerys, Jon Snow (who we now know is a Targaryen) and the Night King.

But what if the third rider is actually Bran?

We know Bran can warg into humans (like Hodor) and other animals (like ravens) but can he warg into a dragon? We've yet to see Bran do so; in fact, beyond his chilly, detached sibling reunions, we've seen little of Bran lately. (One would surmise that Bran's fully aware of at least the presence of the dragons on Westeros.)

And, then, remember that in season four, when Bran first meets the Three-Eyed Raven, the mystic tells Bran, "You'll never walk again but you will fly."

Of course, maybe he just means Bran will fly by warging in to ravens. But what if... WHAT IF HE MEANS THE DRAGON?

That may be a bit problematic though as it seems the Night King has the power to disrupt Bran's warging, as we saw earlier this season when the Bran-inhabited ravens are scattered by the Night King's stare.

Also, this isn't taking into account another major theory circulating -- that Bran and the Night King are one and the same -- or that that puzzling moment when we saw the eyes of the wolf head on Jon's sword Longclaw apparently go white. (Was it just a trick of the light or can Bran warg into inanimate objects?)

But maybe -- just maybe -- Bran can warg into the dragon, making him the third dragon rider and giving him the chance to battle the Night King as his abilities grow stronger.

Or maybe not. Just like every fun Game of Thrones theory that races across the internet, for every piece of story that supports it, there's one that seems to contradict it.

For now, there is only one thing to do: Wait and see.
