'Game of Thrones' reigns over Emmy field with 23 nominations

Game of Thrones has taken the Emmy nominations crown with nods in 23 categories, including for stars Kit Harington and Maisie Williams.

For the sixth year in a row, Thrones was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series (which it won at last year's Emmys). Acting nominations also went to Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, as well as Lena Headey and Emilia Clarke for Supporting Actress.

Maisie Williams also scored her first nomination — also for Outstanding Supporting Actress. Guess Arya can cross "Emmy nom" off her kill list.

This, of course, means a contest between Arya, Cersei and Daenerys — basically the IRL Game of Thrones episode of our dreams.

A Tyrion/Jon Snow standoff sounds less interesting, but we're still here for it, we guess. Luckily, if you play the Game of Emmys, you don't have to win or die. It's cool if you're just nominated.

Thrones also received nods for many technical categories, including sound editing, costumes, makeup and production design. Show creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff were nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.
