One 'Game of Thrones' character's absence might hold the key to a big death in Season 6

Warning: Contains plenty of spoilers from Game of Thrones Season 6, Episode 8.

LONDON -- Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones wasn't exactly the most thrilling one we've ever seen.

There was an entertaining re-union between Jamie and Brienne, we got to see the Hound doing some good old head-chopping and Arya's increasingly dull storyline in Bravos finally appeared to come to a conclusion -- but nothing that significant happened, right?

Well, maybe. There were a couple of key takeaways from the episode -- most importantly the absence of one character -- which, when combined with a cast interview from a few weeks back, give us a good sense of how the rest of Season 6 might play out.

There was no sign of Lady Stoneheart.

For anyone who hasn't read George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, Stoneheart is Catelyn Stark brought back to life. Beric Dondarion -- who featured in Sunday's episode and is still very much alive in the show -- passes his Lord of Light-given undead-ness to Catelyn Stark in the books after the Red Wedding. She's the leader of the Brotherhood without Banners in the novels, and Beric is dead.

For awhile now, fans have speculated on whether or not Lady Stoneheart will feature in the show at all -- but after Sunday's episode this seems more unlikely than ever. Beric Dondarrion is still alive in the show, and now years have passed since the Red Wedding (remember Edmure Tully saying to Jamie that he's been kept in a cell "for years"?).

This means Catelyn has been dead for a long time, and her body is almost certainly decomposed. Any chance of Dondarrion passing his life-force onto her (or her being resurrected by any other means) likely expired long ago.

So what does mean for the rest of Season Six?

Lady Stoneheart's continuing absence may not mean much on its own, but it's massive when combined with something Sophie Turner said in a Yahoo interview last month.

Basically, Turner and other members of the Thrones cast played a game of "two truths and a lie," which meant they said three statements about what might happen later on in Season 6. Two of the statements were supposedly true, while the other was not.

Here's what Sophie Turner said:

Obviously we can't say with 100% certainty that Lady Stoneheart won't come back -- this is Game of Thrones, after all -- but after Episode 8 the chances have been drastically reduced.

This means that out of those three statements, Turner was almost certainly lying about number two -- assuming she wasn't completely lying about all, three off course -- which makes statements one and three true.

We know Arya is on her way home, so number three is looking increasingly likely.

As for statement number one? Well, we're pretty sure Jon Snow will be able to take care of that little problem. Maybe even in the next episode.
