Warning: Contains spoilers from Game of Thrones Season 6, episode 4.

LONDON -- Let's be honest, things aren't looking great for Rickon at the moment.

If people were forced to put money on which of the Stark brood is likely to croak it first, little Rickon -- who has recently lost both his direwolf (maybe) and his wildling guardian (definitely) -- would probably be the one with the worst odds.

As is often the question with most of our best-loved Thrones characters, the question isn't if they will die, it's unfortunately when they will die, and how.

In Rickon's case, Redditor Spock_42 has come up with the following prediction about what fate may await him.

"So it seems as though Littlefinger is going to call the banners of the Vale and march North, presumably with the end goal of planting Sansa as a puppet wardeness of the North. However, with Rickon currently alive, that poses a problem, as Rickon would be first in line (assuming Jon won't be officially Starked). My prediction is that after the battle, Ramsay's forces will be defeated, Rickon will survive but LF will get to Winterfell just ahead of Jon, and personally be the one to kill Rickon. We know he's capable to taking a life himself to secure control, so it's not too far fetched. Then when the Northern armies arrive, he can pin it on Ramsay. A fairly simple prediction, and if it happens it would remind us that Littlefinger only cares for Littlefinger, which I think will be easy to forget if we have a few episodes of him aiding the Stark cause."

Others, meanwhile, were more sceptical.

So what do we reckon? Well Littlefinger is certainly capable of it -- we've already seen him shove one character off a massive building and conspire in the poisoning of another; is it really such a stretch that he'd kill one more in order to further his own cause?

The question is whether or not it's worth the risk for him. We know from the episode five preview that Sansa is already suspicious of Petyr; if Rickon happens to die in suspicious circumstances involving him, would he really be able to get away with it?

If we had to bet, we'd say Rickon probably will die before the end of the season. If he manages to survive his current predicament and the upcoming battle, then an unexpected killing at the hands of someone like Littlefinger would be suitably shocking (and in the show's style). But while he's still in Ramsay's dungeon, there are a whole host of other unpleasant possibilities that could befall him.

He may not last long enough to even meet Littlefinger.
