No surprise there.

In the least surprising news of the year, HBO's Game of Thrones was the most pirated TV show of the year, according to TorrentFreak's data.

The torrent-tracking blog compiled its top 10 list using several sources, one of them being BitTorrent's public tracker stats. Game of Thrones was in first place, followed by The Walking Dead and Westworld.

The rest of the list is comprised of The Flash, Arrow, The Big Bang Theory, Vikings, Lucifer and Suits.

No traffic records have been broken this year -- the highest number of people actively sharing one episode was 350,000 -- but the interest for Game of Thrones on torrent sites remains high. TorrentFreak claims this is the fifth year in a row that the show was most pirated on torrent sites.

One noticeable trend, the blog says, is pirates moving to higher quality, 720p and 1080p videos.

The upcoming, seventh season of the hit series should arrive in mid-2017. At only seven episodes, it will be shorter than previous seasons, all of which consisted of 10 episodes.

We have no doubt, however, that the interest in the show on pirate sites will remain high.
