The eighth season of Game of Thrones will be the shortest one so far, with only six episodes planned. While those shortened episodes will almost certainly be longer than usual, the compressed runtime means that some characters who have appeared in previous seasons (and are somehow still alive) won't appear at all in the final season.

Mark Gatiss, who plays Iron Bank employee Tycho Nestoris, said in an interview with Short List that his character isn't in Season 8. When asked if his character survives the war to come on Thrones, he replied:

"I’m not in it, so I guess I survive. Although they might just mention offhand that I’ve had my head bitten off by a dragon off-screen or something."

Tycho was last seen in Season 7 talking to Cersei about her final payment to the Iron Bank — recall that she paid off the crown's entire debt by sacking Highgarden, the ancestral castle of the now-extinct Tyrell family. Earlier in the series he was convinced by Davos Seaworth to fund the failed campaign of Stannis Baratheon (Rest in Pieces, daughter-killer).

While it can be assumed that Tycho returned to the Iron Bank in Braavos after collecting the crown's money, his last conversation with Cersei was not a pointless throwaway. In it he also offered Cersei help with regaining the lands she lost to Daenerys Targaryen, and she revealed that help would be coming in the form of the Golden Company, a legendary group of Essosi sellswords that she planned on using as a private army.

Tycho assured her that as long as her payment came through, the bank would be happy to help.

It can be assumed that after talking to Cersei, Tycho boarded a ship and sailed back to Braavos, happy to be done with all the kings and wars of Westeros. Still, if the final war of Season 8 goes poorly for Cersei, he may have another distinction to his name — the last person to collect a debt from a Lannister.
