There's a huge bit of key symbolism in the final shot of 'Game of Thrones' Episode 4

Cersei has been an anchor to Jaime for awhile now.

A part of him clearly wants to be a good person, but his allegiance to his increasingly vicious sister is holding him back.

As Redditor NsRhea pointed out, the final shot of Episode 4 did a brilliant job of emphasising this:

Look -- his Lannister armour is quite literally dragging him down here, pulling him into the darkness.

Either way, one thing's for certain: if Jaime doesn't shed that heavy lion symbol very, very quickly, it's going to end up killing him.
