Sansa is the Stark you should be watching in the 'Game of Thrones' trailer

She persisted.

The Game of Thrones Season 7 trailer dropped on Wednesday, and apart from almost breaking the internet, it gave us plenty to think about until July.

Like Sansa Stark, our reigning lady in the North, reunited with her half-brother (who is actually her full-cousin) Jon Snow and determined to resist the Lannister regime.

"Your father and brothers are gone, and yet here you stand," Littlefinger whispers to Sansa in his usual creepy register. "The last, best hope against the coming storm."

There's a lot of truth to that, given that Sansa's instinct saved Jon at the Battle of the Bastards and she's probably playing Littlefinger like a freaking fiddle. As crowds intone "The King in the North!" for Jon (prompting traumatic Robb flashbacks for many of us), his success depends on Sansa.

Meanwhile, the youngest Stark sister has made the long journey north -- probably in a flash, the same way she left Braavos in the Season 6 finale. But the trailer shows no hint of a triumphant reunion in Arya's future; she's struggling to survive in the unforgiving cold, building small fires and avoiding the army of the dead.

As for Bran, he is probably 90 years old and 10 feet tall by now, as Mashable Senior Editor Chris Taylor notes. Bran, bye.

Will the Starks ever be together again? Will Ramsay Bolton's ghost go on a murderous rampage just when they have a shot at happiness? Will Bran warg everyone to death?

We'll find out when Game of Thrones returns on July 16.
