'Gears of War 4' introduces a new generation of Fenix
Marcus Fenix got busy after Gears of War 3.
The Gears hero made a baby, the baby grew into a man and that man -- J.D. Fenix -- is one of the key characters in Gears of War 4. He joined the COG militia just like his dad, but went AWOL after something happened. Something classified.

We know about J.D. and his Gears 4 pals thanks to Game Informer, which delivers new details on the 2016 Xbox One game in its latest cover story. The sequel was first introduced at E3 2015 with a gameplay clip featuring mysterious characters and familiar gameplay.
This being a Gears of War game, J.D. isn't alone. He's got allies in two other new characters, Kait Diaz and Delmont "Del" Walker.
Kait hails from outside the civilized, walled cities that most of humanity takes shelter in. She grew up among a band of "Outsiders" led by her parents, though the harsh wilderness claimed her father some years before Gears 4.
Del, like J.D., is a former COG soldier. The two are childhood friends, and it was J.D. enlisting that convinced Del to sign up too. Both men were involved in the same incident that led J.D. to go AWOL, and now they've taken refuge among the Outsiders.
Gears of War 4 tells a story set 25 years after the events of Gears 3, long after some as-yet-unexplained event changed the face of the planet Sera, blanketing it in devastating windstorms.
Game Informer's latest issue reveals the star-studded cast that voices these three new characters, and it should deliver some additional details on how Gears 4 tweaks the series' cover-based gunplay. Also, new guns. Everybody loves new guns.
