People are freaking out over these 'sexist' T-shirts for kids

LONDON -- Two kids' T-shirts have been causing a ruckus on social media, after people felt they promoted gender stereotyping.

The offending tees were first spotted Henry Mance in Sainsbury's, who pointed out a crucial difference between the two items of clothing.

The girls' tee is emblazoned with the slogan "little and loved," while the boys' tee says "brave and strong."

His tweet prompted an outpouring of ire from fellow Twitter users who objected to the "regressive" gendering of the clothing.

While one person urged the retailer to remove the tees from shop floors...

Someone else raised an excellent point...

"These T-shirts are very popular with our customers and we always welcome their feedback. We offer a wide range of clothing and it certainly wasn’t our intention to cause any offence," a Sainsbury’s spokesperson said in a statement emailed to Mashable.

The tops haven’t been removed from our online platform.
