'Get Out' as a rom-com is a little 'too' perfect, and now we're even more scared

Jordan Peele's hit movie Get Out was a terrifying ride with just the right amounts of dark humor, but what if that equation were flipped?

With the MTV Movie & TV Awards just one day away, we get to find out in this alternate universe trailer from Mashable's Cinefix team that frames Get Out, a Movie of the Year nominee at the awards show, as a rom-com and, wait a minute, this really, really works.

All the awkward moments are now charming. All those sinister hints of danger? Now nonchalantly brushed off with a chuckle or a befuddled expression.

All it took to pull off the amazingly seamless transition is that whimsical yet reassuring voice-over from a million rom-coms and a touch of stock background music.

The horror-meets-dark comedy of Peele's Get Out became one of the year's biggest hits, and the highest grossing debut for a writer/director of an original screenplay at nearly $200 million.

But as brilliant at Peele's film is in its original state, you'd better believe there are Hollywood producers somewhere wondering if this saccharin version of the film might've added another $100 million to the haul.
