Giant, ominous bird lands on this girl's shoulders and it's the most goth thing

Sometimes harbingers of doom just want to say "hello."

There are plenty of birds out there with brightly colored plumage. Then there are birds who look like they come straight out of an Edgar Allen Poe nightmare.

Twitter user @spreadterror lived up to his name and captured this particular harbinger of doom as it landed on his girlfriend (@ilovenicegrass).

As you can see, this specimen is no tropical beauty. It is ominously perched on her shoulders, like a proper omen of death ought to do.

In case you thought this was a Photoshop, there's a full video of the experience. A bright macaw can be seen in the background, but obviously it is not interested in matters of doom and gloom like our big, dark friend here.

But fret not -- turns out this gloomy looking bird is a palm cockatoo and he's just saying hello!

See? Even ominous beacons of misfortune are just friendly boys looking for companionship.

Next time you see a big black dog creeping at you from the shadows or a spectral-looking black cat darting across your path, consider that these symbols of bad luck might need a little love too.
