Gigi Hadid got all political on the American Music Awards on Sunday night and now she's sorry...sort of.

The model/Kendall Jenner bestie did a Melania Trump impression at the AMAs, which some viewers found funny. Others, not so much.

On Monday night, Hadid addressed the controversy in a handwritten note -- perhaps a move to confuse her fellow millennials.

Luckily, she shared it on social media too, where such apologies belong.

"I removed or changed anything in the script that I felt took the joke too far, and whether or not you choose to see it, what remained was done in good humor and with no bad intent," she wrote.

"I too have been the center of a nationally televised comedy skit that poked fun at my actions, and was able to find the humor in it," she continued.

"I believe Melania understands show business and the way shows are written and run."

Despite defending her actions, she did offer a lukewarm apology to viewers who were upset by her impression.

"I apologize to anyone that I offended and have only the best wishes for our country," she wrote.
