Eat your messy snacks with caution: your siblings could get caught in the crossfire.

The tragic proof begins with Indiana teen Mia Simper and her 6-year-old sister Ella, who were driving back from the lake earlier this week. While Ella slept in the backseat, Mia snacked on sunflower seeds — a delightful treat and a delicious way to pass the time.

There's only one issue with eating sunflower seeds in the car: you gotta spit those shells out the window. Mia, an experienced sunflower seed eater, knew this well.

But the wind had other plans. When Mia spat the seeds from the front passenger seat, they traveled back into the car through Ella's open window.

Then, they splatted onto Ella's head.

Mia's Twitter photos of the incident have since gotten over 7,000 retweets — probably making Ella the first person to be famous for having sunflower seeds on her face.

And according to Mia, Ella is being a good sport about her newfound fame.

"She is getting sick of all our family members saying she's famous," she told Mashable. "But ... in a sassy six-year-old way.

"Overall, I think she thinks it's pretty cool," she added.

We surmise that someone who woke up with spit-covered sunflower seeds in her hair can be as sassy as she wants.
