A hot new color might be coming to the iPhone 7
Forget the Jet Black or matte black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Bring on "Jet White."
Apple might add a glossy white color to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, according to a report from the Japanese Apple blog Mac Otakara.
The site claims sources within the supply chain suggest Apple is at least considering the option, although the information might be unreliable.
Mac Otakara, at the very least, has a history of reliably leaking new Apple news ahead of their announcements.
A new Jet White option would might help further boost iPhone sales.
Historically, Apple only releases new colors when a new iPhone launches. The iPhone 5S introduced gold and the iPhone 6S brought rose gold. And, to some extent, the iPhone 5C brought a handful of candy colors.
But there is precedent for a new color after an iPhone launch. The white iPhone 4 launched almost a year after the regular black model. But the only reason it launched afterwards was because the white model proved "challenging to manufacture." There were reports of white Home buttons not matching the glass-enclosed white body.
A new Jet White option would might help further boost iPhone sales. Not to mention, the "micro-abrasions" aka fine scratches that appear on the Jet Black would be probably less visible on a glossy white model.
Adding a glossy white model would put the number of color options for the iPhone at six: silver, gold, rose gold, black, Jet Black and glossy "Jet White" white.
