It wouldn't be a Hollywood awards season without some ups and downs, and the 2019 Golden Globes came through as usual.

One part love-filled compliment fest and two parts uncomfortable snub parade, the night included Black Panther heading home award-less and a whole bunch of A-listers getting free flu shots.

Here's all the best and all the worst from the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

Best

Sandra’s “moment of change”

From Black Panther to Crazy Rich Asians, 2018 felt like a great year for representation -- but it sure was nice to hear someone say it.

In a charmingly complimentary opening monologue, co-host Sandra Oh took a moment to honor the achievement, saying to the audience of diverse entertainers, “Trust me, it is real. Because I see you. And I see you. All these faces of change. And now, so will everyone else.”

Emma Stone apologizing for Aloha

In the opening monologue, Sandra Oh poked fun at the “Asian” leads of Ghost in the Shell and Aloha -- Scarlett Johansson and Emma Stone, respectively...neither of whom are Asian. Stone chimed in with a shouted, “I’M SORRY” just as the applause died down. For any other celebrities in hot water for sensitive subjects: These are the operative words in an apology.

Jamie Lee Curtis roasting Ben Stiller

2018 was an amazing year for Jamie Lee Curtis -- and she knows it. Co-presenting an award with JLC was Ben Stiller, who began the pair’s Globes banter by heaping even more praise onto Curtis’s role in last year’s Halloween. Curtis graciously accepted the compliments and then asked Stiller, who directed the nominated series Escape at Dannemora, “Were you in anything?” Touché, madame.

Flu shots for everybody

Oh and Samberg put the room to the test by offering everyone free flu shots (with so many vocal anti-vaccine personalities, this was quite the cheeky and disruptive move). It’s a little late in the season for that, but we respect it.

Sandra Oh’s win

Oh did a fabulous job as host and has put years of hard work into television. Her turn as Eve Polastri on Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Killing Eve is nothing short of fantastic, and on a night celebrating people of color in Hollywood, her Korean words of love to her parents were nothing short of perfect.

The Jeff Bridges-inspired Big Lebowski monologue

Legendary actor Jeff Bridges accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award at Sunday’s ceremony in a particularly Jeff fashion. He talked about movies, he talked about boats, and he said “man” a lot. The best part of it all, however, came from Sam Elliott, Jeff’s former co-star from the Coen Brothers’ cult classic The Big Lebowski. Reimagining the film’s iconic opening monologue to fit Jeff (rather than the zen icon that is The Dude), the segment was the perfect callback to a cinematic favorite.

Worst

That A Star is Born suicide joke

After a monologue full of effusive praise for the evenings nominees and Sandra Oh’s brilliant spotlight on minority representation in Hollywood, Samberg introduced Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper with the sentence “He discovered Ally and she discovered him in the garage.” Yikes.

The Big Bang Theory cast

After a quick, sharp joke about Les Moonves, Samberg introduced the cast of The Big Bang Theory, who are among the least likely to publicly badmouth Moonves, after 12 years on the air and some of the biggest paychecks on television. None of them seemed particularly happy to be there. Oh, well!

A very awkward Chris Pine joke

Please welcome to the stage... a whole bunch of awkward. Host Andy Samberg welcomed presenter (and dreamboat) Chris Pine to the stage with a not-so-subtle roast, saying, "Please welcome Chris Pine and his busted face!" Seeing as that is so obviously a joke, it should have gone over perfectly fine. But Pine looked pretty unamused. Yikes.

Some surprising (and disappointing) best film wins

The Golden Globes don't have a spotless track record with awarding movies (remember The Tourist??), but no one saw this coming: In an up-for-grabs category, Green Book took home the Globe for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, beating out Crazy Rich Asians and The Favourite. And while that was surprising, it wasn't nearly as disappointing as what happened in the Best Motion Picture - Drama category. Frontrunners Black Panther and A Star Is Born were beat out by the deeply underwhelming Bohemian Rhapsody. We would say better luck next year, but...

See ya at the Oscars!
