The women of Hollywood aren't about to let their industry forget its horrible history of sexual assault and harassment. Many actresses will protest sexual misconduct in Hollywood by wearing black to the Golden Globe Awards, People reports.

Nominees and presenters are expected to participate, and the trend may pervade not just the Golden Globes but the entire awards season.

People reports that multiple sources in the industry said actresses will be wearing black gowns, a bolder statement than pins or ribbons seen for other causes in years past. The news was first broken by The Morning Breath.

It's not the only way awards hopes to address the conversation of sexual misconduct in Hollywood. The Screen Actors Guild announced Wednesday that all presenters at the Jan. 21 SAG Awards would be women (the nominations were announced by two women as well) and the ceremony will be hosted by Kristen Bell, their first ever female host.

As powerful as it is to see the entertainment industry band together, these are still symbolic gestures — action is necessary. Throughout the upcoming awards season, rooms and theaters will be packed with people who have worked with Harvey Weinstein, people who continue to work with Woody Allen, and people who might be hiding their own indiscretions or history as bystanders.

Come awards season, we can expect empowering speeches about the problems in the industry and how to fix them. As long as celebrities continue to use their platforms for good, a few fashion choices won't hurt the cause.
