Fans are revolting against Amazon's decision to not renew Good Girls Revolt.

The show, which debuted in November, has generated a ton of social buzz over the last few days, with many -- including the show's stars -- tweeting #savegoodgirlsrevolt.

On Tuesday, an official Care2 petition surfaced online. It has already amassed over 3,000 signatures.

Written by former journalist Dana Calvo, the series is based on a book by Lynn Povich which follows the landmark case in which 46 female staffers sued Newsweek for discrimination.

It does feature characters based on historical figures including writer-filmmaker Nora Ephron (Grace Gummer) and ACLU lawyer Eleanor Holmes Norton (Joy Bryant). But the three leading ladies — Erin Darke (Love & Mercy), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect) and Genevieve Angelson (House of Lies) — play fictionalized researchers at a magazine called News of the Week.

Some reports suggest that the series, from Sony Pictures Television's TriStar Television banner, was canceled because Amazon Studios head Roy Price was not a fan.

Calvo told Buzzfeed that the 10-episode series was more of a hit than Amazon's award-winning series Transparent.

Representatives for Sony and for Amazon Studios did not immediately respond to Mashable's request for comment.

Since news of the show's cancelation was publicized last week, the stars have been using social media to call on fans to fight.

Fans of the show were quick to respond. Many pointed out that the feminist show is needed post-election.

Good Girls Revolt is a critically acclaimed, feminist series about the 1970 landmark class action gender discrimination case against Newsweek and it was canceled because one male CEO didn't like the content,” Care2 petition author Kelsey B wrote on the page. “GGR is a beautiful, empowering and honest portrayal of the fight these women and many like them went through to demand the right to equal opportunities in the workplace. “

Fans petitioning efforts may be working. According to The Hollywood Reporter, many -- including ABC, Freeform, USA Network, Bravo and Hulu -- are interested in picking the show up for a second season.
