The next version of Android could have an unexpected name. At least, that's what Google wants us to think.

The company dropped the final version of its Android O beta, signalling that the official release is almost here. But many were surprised to find a bizarre new Easter egg.

Google has yet to reveal what Android "O" will officially be called. But Google may have included a big hint in the latest version of the Android beta. Or, the company could be trolling us all. Either way, it's bizarre.

The unexpected Easter egg: an octopus. Yes, an octopus.

In each new version of Android, Google hides an Easter egg in the settings menu -- typically based on whatever dessert-themed name the update's been given. You can find it by heading to Settings --> System --> About Phone --> Android Version and holding down on the "O" logo.

This is what happens when you do:

While some have speculated the octopus means Google is ditching its dessert theme with Android O, that seems unlikely. More likely: Google is subtly trolling us all as we wait for the name to be officially announced. A Google spokesperson declined to comment on the octopus.

The good news, however, is that we won't have much longer to wait. With the final beta being released today, that means Google is closer than ever to making Android O official and, if they follow the same pattern they have in recent years, we'll learn the name ahead of the public release.
