In movie-mad India, every one in 10 mobile Google searches are about cinema. Taking note of India's passion for cinema, Google has launched special immersive search tools for Bollywood for millions of cinephiles in the country.

The new search tools offers contextual and image-rich answers to questions related to films, actors, lyrics, trailers, locations, screening times and even trivia using Google Now cards.

“Google has a long history of building products for India, and we wanted to make sure that when these millions of Indian cinema fans pick up their phone and ask Google about their favourite films, actors or songs, they get a delightful, local experience” Google Marketing Head, Sapna Chadha said.

For instance, you can now ask Google about a famous Bollywood family tree, which films two actors co-starred in, or where a song was shot.

For the launch, Google India has also released a short film called The Hero. The video highlights the new search features through the story of a Bollywood-inspired journey of a father and son. The two Bollywood fans use Google's new cinema-specific search to travel to locations for iconic films such as Sholay, Dil Chahta Hai and Rang De Basanti.

Google offers similar search cards for cricket in India. It had also launched an online music search service for India in 2010, which allowed users to search for and play music online through streaming websites such as Saavn and Saregama. The experimental service was shut down in 2014.
