Virtual reality headsets are nice, but they have one fatal flaw: They just add another barrier between you and the world.

Now, to achieve full immersion, Google has launched a new headset: Google Cardboard Plastic, which lets you experience actual reality in all its glory, with zero hindrances.

Yes, it's just a piece of see-through plastic that you put on your head.

As usual, Google put together a hilarious promo video (below) and a full-featured mini site over at www.google.com/get/cardboard/plastic/.

The official specs of this thing are as follows: four dimensions (we're guessing Google is including time here), 360-degree, spatially accurate sound, and 20/20 vision.

Best thing? If you're just a little bit of a do-it-yourself guy, you can just cut a piece of plastic and build the damn thing yourself.

Happy April Fools' ay.
