Google Maps is back on Apple Watch after more than 3 years
Apple Watch owners have been forced to use Apple Maps for years — until now.
Google Maps, last available on Apple Watch in 2017, is rolling out to watchOS users globally over the next few weeks.
Now you can get turn-by-turn directions from your Google Maps locations, like "home" or "work" (likely the same place these days).

For places you haven't saved, like a bakery or hardware store, you can set up directions on your phone's Google Maps app and your watch will sync up for the rest of the trip. The step-by-step directions on your wrist also work in walking, biking, and public transit mode.
Google Maps is also adding a split-screen feature for Apple's CarPlay. So drivers can have directions on one side of their car's screen, and their music, podcasts, and calendar appointments on the other. That means you can do everything in Google's app instead of switching to Apple's own default Maps.
