In May this year, Google announced Google One, a rebranding of its Google Drive online storage service. It offered cheaper plans, which were automatically enabled for Drive users, but it wasn't opened for sign ups.

On Wednesday, Google opened up Google One memberships for everyone in the U.S.

Google One is currently not very different from Google Drive; the most important change is the cheaper storage plans.

15GB of storage is still free. 100GB will cost you $1.99 per month, 200GB is $2.99 per month, and 2TB for $9.99 (a significant upgrade since you only got 1TB for that price on Drive). The pricing for plans over 2TB is the same as before.

A Google One membership does come with some additional perks, such as 24/7 access to Google experts who can help you out with any problems you may encounter while using the service. Google says that, in the future, members will also get credits on Google Play and deals on hotels found through Google Search.

Google says One will be coming to countries other than the U.S. "over the next few weeks." If you're in the U.S., you can sign up right now by visiting this address.
