Google Photos on iOS just became a whole lot useful for iPhone 6S users.

The new version of the software now lets you view and back up Live Photos, the short animated clips you can take with an iPhone 6S.

Since a lot of folks use Google Photos for backing up all their photos and videos, lack of support for Live Photos -- which take up more storage space than regular photos -- was a bit of a dealbreaker.

Other new features include improved app navigation, support for iPad Pro and iPad Split View, and reduced cache usage when a device is low on space.

The update comes mere days after a pretty important overhaul of the web version of Google Photos, which introduced new editing tools for photos.

You can find the new version of Google Photos for iOS in Apple's App Store
