Do not mess with cheesy breadsticks.

Americans aren't proud of their school lunches, but do not mess with cheesy breadsticks.

Celebrity chef and reality TV star Gordon Ramsay is well known for being vocal about his opinions on food. His brash and outspoken criticism is his schtick, and he's basically turned his Twitter feed into an all-out war on crappy food pics.

The jokey tweets have got Ramsay in trouble in the past, and this time he basically insulted anyone that has ever eaten school lunch at a public school in America.

A common school lunch in the US is basically a bunch of bread filled with cheese. In my youth, they were called "Cheesy Pizza Dunkers." Sure, the cheese was rubbery and the bread stale, but cheesy gluten day was a lot better than almost every other school lunch we had, so they hold a special, nostalgic place in many hearts.

Twitter user punknoelle tried to be edgy, and tweeted a photo at Ramsay, basically asking for criticism. Ramsay retweeted the photo, suggesting the student should change school because the food looked so bad.

Bad move, Ramsay.

Twitter user meimaybeline decided to come back with some truth, informing punknoelle that these gross-looking breadsticks were a delicacy among school kids, and many agreed. Her tweet shattered Gordon's criticism with over 40,000 retweets.

Some noted that you can buy these fine sticks by the case on Amazon.

One person made a poll, and though some called it "disgusting," the results thus far are overwhelmingly pro-breadstick.

Some people came back with some harsh realities.

Others just embraced the nostalgia.
