Spring is here, suckers! And like every spring in recent memory, it comes, paradoxically, with an ominous promise of winter from HBO's Game of Thrones.

At this point in the series, Game of Thrones has mostly caught up with George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire saga -- meaning that Season 6 charts unknown territory for book and TV fans alike. Let's take a closer look at what we can expect in the upcoming season, based on this brand-new trailer.

One of the youngest Stark siblings sat out Season 5 -- but in Season 6, he's back, stationed deep in the North and learning to harness his unique powers.

We know that this year, Bran will be Warging his way through life and apparently standing -- probably during one of his magical visions -- next to the Night's King, a.k.a. head of the White Walkers.

The Lannisters have no f*cks left to give

Ever since the Sparrows forced Cersei to take that brutal walk of shame, the Queen Regent has no sympathy left for the rest of the world. (And she had very, very little to begin with.)

"We're the only ones who matter," Jamie tells his sister/lover in the trailer, because they have nearly nobody left to impress or care for (R.I.P. Myrcella). Cersei mirrors the sentiment later in the trailer, choosing a resurrected Mountain (er, "Ser Robert Strong" -- yeah, OK, sure) to represent her in a trial by combat against the Sparrows.

Melisandre is losing her grip

The Red Woman has previously lacked no confidence when it came to covering young men in leeches or burning children alive (R.I.P. Shireen) -- but her latest crusades for the Red God haven't gone as planned.

Remember: This is the woman many fans speculate could resurrect Jon Snow in Season 6. But do we really want her trying that if she isn't in the right headspace?

The Mother of Dragons is lost...

We last saw Daenerys dragonless, powerless and showerless, all of which remain true as she's escorted to Vaes Dothrak by an army of angry Dothraki in the new trailer.

...but not forgotten

Trust loyal-to-a-fault Jorah Mormont to still be tracking his Khaleesi's abandoned jewelry through to the edges of Westeros and beyond. He shares this noble quest with Daario Naharis, who conspicuously gets no screen time or significant jump cuts alongside Daenerys in the trailer.

All sorts of Greyjoy drama

The Season 6 trailer features a brooding Theon, his uncle Euron -- a new character this year -- being drowned in a non-lethal sort of way, and his sister Yara having more fun than any Greyjoy in recent memory by finally getting to make out with someone.

Arya is in deep trouble

Bran's badass sister (whom he'll probably never see again, let's be real) angered the many-faced god by going rogue and stabbing the crap out of Meryn Trant last year. Now she's blind and being beaten by the very people who were once training her to become the perfect killing machine.

Jon Snow is still not safe

Dead or not dead? ("He's gone" is the first line of the trailer, so ... it's one of the two!). Either way, Lord Commander Snow isn't in the clear yet. The trailer ends with Davos drawing a sword over Jon's body, which the Night's Watch may be planning to burn in order to avoid Jon becoming a White Walker.

But what's Davos doing with that sword? Is he taking the body to Melisandre? Will Davos ever be able to tend his onions in peace??

Tune in for answers -- and probably many more questions -- on April 24.
