Grandparents' pure elation at Kyle Chalmers' gold medal win is adorable
Suffice it to say, not many people thought 18-year-old Australian swimmer Kyle Chalmers had a big chance of taking home a gold medal.
Yet here we are. Chalmers spectacularly beat other favourites to win the 100m freestyle Wednesday night at the Rio Olympics.
No wonder grandparents Malcolm and Julie Bagnell, at home in Port Lincoln, South Australia reacted the way they did. Just pure, teary euphoria that you'd only get from a moment like this.

The couple later appeared on Australian TV show The Project, where they waxed lyrical about their dear grandson's win. Just a warning, it is pretty damn cute.
"Normally I'm a little settled, wherever I've been, following him I've always taken footage of him. But today I got away from it, I was absolutely over moon and I went for it. Yes, what a tremendous win," Malcolm said.
It was also revealed that Chalmers also had a promising Australian rules football career, close to sticking to the sport instead of swimming. But any change of sports was quickly dismissed by grandma Julie.
"No, no he's not allowed to do that yet," she said. "I told him he can be a swimmer first and then a footballer, but not a footballer, then a swimmer."
Apparently Chalmers gets hurt "too easily" while playing football, exactly how your grandparents warn you about activities which injure you easily too. How sweet.
Australia's other star swimmer, Mack Horton, has been still on the receiving end of negative comments from Chinese fans. The swimmer commented to reporters that he had "no time for drug cheats," following a question in relation to China's Sun Yang doping ban served in 2014.
While the heat has been still on Horton, the website of sporting body Swimming Australia has been operating in "under attack" mode following a denial-of-service attack (DoS), according to ABC News.
Visitors to the site will have to wait five seconds for anti-attack software to verify a user's browser before they can access the website's content. It's certainly an Olympics as per usual, throwing up a heap of surprises in such a short space of time.
