The 'Green Book' Wikipedia page is being mercilessly trolled after Oscars win

So the Oscars is over for another year, and the 2019 Best Picture winner is Green Book.

Quite a few people aren't too happy about that, though. Peter Farrelly's movie has been criticised by a number of people for the simplistic way it portrays race relations, including the real-life family of Don Shirley, the man played by Mahershala Ali in the movie.

Upon hearing that the film had won Best Picture, BlacKkKlansman director Spike Lee was apparently so angry he even tried to leave the event.

And now others are making their frustration known in other ways.

Shortly after Green Book won Best Picture, its Wikipedia was amended. For a while, the title was changed to "Lying White Guilt Trash".

A look at the Wikipedia page's edit history shows it was changed a number of times in the hours after the movie won Best Picture.

As well as the title being amended, the words "sexual harasser" were added before director Peter Farrelly's name (a reference to Farrelly's old habit of flashing his penis) and "serial liar and Islamophobe" before writer and producer Nick Vallelonga (referring to a 2015 tweet about 9/11 where Vallelonga said he'd seen "Muslims in Jersey City cheering when towers went down.")

At the time of writing, Green Book's Wikipedia page is back to normal again. But it sounds like the editors will have to be on guard for a while...

UPDATE: Feb. 26, 2019, 10:31 a.m. GMT Wikipedia administrator TheSandDoctor reached out to Mashable to confirm that Green Book's Wikipedia page has been placed under "semi-protection".
