Situated next to the national capital Delhi, the corporate hub of Gurgaon is home to the swanky offices of top multinational companies, hotels and malls. Yet Gurgaon, often described as India's 'millennium city' has been brought to a standstill since yesterday due to heavy rains.

As a result of the downpour on July 28, many Gurgaon roads have been waterlogged, causing massive traffic jams and leaving commuters stranded in their vehicles for up to seven hours.

Since Gurgaon is connected to several national highways, traffic moving towards the states of Rajasthan and Maharasthra was also affected. Local police has ordered the closure of schools on Friday and Saturday and also asked people from Delhi not to enter Gurgaon to avoid traffic jams. The flooding and traffic snarls started on July 28 and have continued today.
