The 'Hamilton' soundtrack surpassed a major milestone
The Hamilton soundtrack is making history.
According to Billboard, the cast recording of Hamilton: An American Musical has surpassed 1 million U.S. album sales.
The soundtrack is only the ninth original cast recording to claim the honor. The top selling cast recording, at just shy of five million, is a selection of songs from the original London cast recording of Phantom of the Opera released in 1991, the year Nielson began keeping track.
The soundtrack, which was released on September 25, 2015, is the only soundtrack with the honor released after song streams equivalent to album sales became eligible for inclusion on the charts.
The Hamilton Mixtape recently debuted at at no. 1 and a second volume is planned to makes us feel lucky again.
