And it's time to give hand pies a second glance. They are portable, come in a variety of flavors and are downright delicious.
1. Pop Tarts
These internationally marketed snacks may have been your first handheld pie. Perhaps they are still your favorite.
2. Uncrustables
Refrigerated, crustless peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, these handheld pies have quite the loyal following.
3. Empanadas
These usually savory handheld pies, which originally hail from Portugal and northwest Spain, come with a variety of fillings, such as potatoes, picadillo and spiced chicken. It's impossible to eat just one.

Little pies so sweet Grandma will wonder why she never miniaturized her blue ribbon winning version.

The ideal way to avoid taco fillings spilling out of the shell.

All the creamy, cheesy goodness of spinach artichoke dip without having to keep an eye out for the dreaded "double dipper."

These come in different limited edition and permanent flavors all over the world, such as sweet corn in Hong Kong and chocolate in Thailand. But for many of us that warm apple pie brings us straight back to ditching 10th grade homeroom.
