The High King of the Alliance may have met his (supposed) end in World of Warcraft, but his legend lives on in Heroes of the Storm.

Varian Wrynn joined the Heroes of the Storm roster on Tuesday, becoming the first multi-class hero in the game. With three heroic abilities instead of the usual two and a unique talent tree, Varian can be built over the course of a match to be either a Warrior or an Assassin.

Varian is a melee hero which excels in close-quarters combat. His melee attack can be hastened with the trait Heroic Strike. He can slow down retreating enemies with a short-range ability Lion's Fang. He can use Parry to cancel out basic attacks for a short amount of time and Charge enemies to slow them down and deal a little damage.

Varian's three Heroic traits are Taunt, Colossus Smash and Twin Blades of Fury. Taunt forces an enemy to attack him for a brief time, a Warrior ability that is helpful for taking the focus off his squishier allies. Colossus Smash deals heavy damage to enemies and makes them vulnerable by breaking their armor, a very useful ability in big team fights. Twin Blades of Fury is a passive ability that increases his attack speed, decreases the Heroic Strike cool-down and increases his movement speed when attacking.

Players can purchase Varian in Heroes of the Storm for $9.99 or 15,000 gold.

Alongside the new hero, a new brawl called Blackheart's Revenge has arrived in Heroes. It introduces a new kind of gameplay in which one team is attacking and one team is defending. The attacking team has to make it through the docks and stop Blackheart from sailing away.

The new hero and brawl were revealed at BlizzCon Nov. 4 next to another upcoming hero from the Warcraft universe, Ragnaros, who will be available in December.
