This year's Met Gala was fantastic and all, but the 2016 Met Gala introduced "Hiddleswift" to the world, it's time to celebrate what may or may not have been the relationship farce of the decade.
Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston met at last year's Met Gala (May 2, 2016), and the two danced the night away. A few months later, photos from their beach date appeared online and nothing has been quite the same since. Accusations of playing a couple for a giant publicity stunt may have been just theories, but have followed the now silent Swift, even a year later.

Over the course of a few months, we witnessed a frantic romantic tour around the world, complete with matching jackets.
First, there were rocks in Rhode Island. Then they made their way to Nashville, TN to meet Swift's parents and then hopped over to Rome and finally, England to greet Hiddleston's mom—all before a well photographed Independence Day.
Hiddleston might be British, but his participation in the highly anticipated Swift Fourth of July celebrations was the highlight (probably for them and us plebeians) of their brief fling. The cute couples photo with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were great, but the 'I ❤️ TS' shirt is what really solidified their relationship in the eyes of the world.

While together, Hiddleswift endured Kim Kardashian's exposure of the "Famous" conversation and the immediate backlash that had the internet reeling—and #KimExposedTaylorParty trending. Hiddleston reacted appropriately, trying to convince People it is an authentic relationship rather than a distraction from the Kim Kardashian-Kanye West feud—but it proved to be not enough and shortly afterwards, they broke up.
