Former TRL host calls out Ben Affleck for Harvey Weinstein comments, alleges Affleck groped her
The decades of failure in Hollywood to publicly denounce Harvey Weinstein's alleged sexual harassment and assault has many outside the industry stunned. As Weinstein's accusers continue to step forward, celebrities tweeted their disgust with his behavior and support of the women affected — but not all celebrities, particularly men, are getting off with just an apology.
Ben Affleck's statement following the Weinstein stories fell under particular scrutiny, not because of the actor's history of working with him, but because of harassment claims against his brother and now, allegations aimed at him.
Hilarie Burton, a former host of Total Request Live on MTV, tweeted to confirm that Affleck once grabbed her breasts on the program.
Burton herself has remained out of the Weinstein conversation until now, apart from retweets on her timeline. But she was paying attention, as evidenced when Shanice Brim reminded another user that Affleck once groped Burton on TRL. "Everyone forgot though," Brim wrote.
"I didn't forget," Burton responded.

Burton was 21 at the time, back in 2001, and described herself as "a kid." The culture of TRL and MTV at the time didn't help in terms of what was condoned or how it was handled.

Burton then shared an uncensored TRL open where she actually mentions the incident like it was a fun joke, but tweeted that "I had to laugh back then so I wouldn't cry."
