John Lewis' birthday gift for Hillary Clinton was a glimpse of what could have been
It's Hillary Clinton's 70th birthday today. To celebrate, U.S. Rep. John Lewis gave the gift of an alternate reality, one in which the Democratic presidential candidate had made it into the White House as the first female American president.
After wishing "Madame President Hillary Clinton" a happy birthday, the responses came in strong.

Numerous people cheered on the Georgia congressman and the Donald Trump-free world he hinted at with the short tweet. A sampling:

The yassses could be heard around the internet, magnified by the fact that Lewis was the same congressman and civil rights icon whom Trump berated at the beginning of the year.
Then the celebratory tweets started to die down with a blunt reality check: No, she didn't win.
If only Clinton's birthday wishes could come true. Until then, President Trump is still President Trump.
