In the months following the election, Hillary Clinton was seen in forests, bookstores, and Broadway theaters -- anywhere but in front of the microphone.

On Tuesday, Clinton emerged to speak with CNN's Christiane Amanpour at a Women For Women International charity event in New York to give one of her most honest post-election interviews yet. She discussed her anxieties for the future (there are a lot of them) as well as her membership in "the resistance."

"I can't be anything other than who I am. I spent decades learning about what it would take to move our country forward, including for people who clearly didn't vote for me...I'm now back to being an activist citizen and part of the resistance," Clinton said.

Clinton said she took absolute "personal responsibility" for her flaws as a candidate. She acknowledged it wasn't a "perfect campaign" while simultaneously blaming James Comey and WikiLeaks for the electoral upset.

"But I was on the way to winning until a combination of Jim Comey’s letter on Oct. 28 and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me but got scared off," Clinton said. "And the evidence for that intervening event is, I think, compelling, persuasive."

Clinton said her upcoming book will include a "request for absolution" as well as an admission of mistakes she made.

"And remember," Clinton said. "I did win more than 3 million votes than my opponent."
