Hong Kong police try to join in the pen-pineapple-apple-pen fun in the most cringe way possible

Truly awkward.

While it seems parodies of that damn "pen pineapple apple pen" song can't stop popping up everywhere, perhaps some parodies shouldn't be attempted.

The Hong Kong Police Force thought it would get in with the PPAP madness with its own "BBSB" -- Belt Buckle Seat Belt.

Most parodies have taken the original audio and lip synced over it, miming the same actions for pens, apples and pineapples as the character Piko-Taro does.

But the Hong Kong police's parody replaces the audio with a tuneless version of the original ditty, as police officers (presumably) tell you to buckle up while miming the action in the car.

Reactions on Facebook have come fast, ranging between amusement and confusion. A good number of them aren't pleasant.

The original song, which has absolutely blown up the internet this past week, has now crossed two million views on YouTube.

The Piko-Taro character was created by Japanese comedian and DJ Kosaka Daimaou, whose real name is Kazuhiko Kosaka.
