A farmer and his horse have caused quite the ruckus on an Australian icon.

Glenn Morris rode his steed across the Sydney Harbour Bridge Thursday morning as part of a protest against the government's new laws on land clearing.

Morris, a beef farmer from Inverell in northern New South Wales, complete with an Akubra hat, sauntered down lane eight of the bridge's highway at around 10:00 a.m. AEST in an effort to bring attention to the issue.

Traffic halted behind Morris and his horse, as tourists and drivers looked on. When Morris exited the bridge, police spoke to him, but no charges were laid.

He was instructed that it is an offence to block traffic, but that riding a horse is not prohibited on the bridge, according to Fairfax Media.

Morris told the publication he had brought a horse down to Sydney in 2004 to do the same thing, but was talked out of it. "Forever since, I just thought I really would love to raise awareness; that's all it's about," he said.

Despite his mode of transport, Morris wasn't horsing around this time.
